Old label of the langbeinite sample. The material is apparently from the original find in 1884, and the label was written before the first description was printed in 1891. The formula was written according to the style developed in 1818 by Berzelius. These style was used in the literature until around 1880. The points represent oxygen, and potassium oxide was thought to have the composition KO. In the original description 1891 the formula is written in the modern style used today. It is unknown who made the analysis of the sample. "Leonit" is a younger (and incorrect) addition in another handwriting.
Altes Etikett von der Langbeinit-Probe. Das Material stammt offenbar vom Originalfund, das Etikett wurde aber noch vor dem Erscheinen der Erstbeschreibung von Langbeinit geschrieben. Die Formel steht in der 1818 entwickelten Schreibweise nach Berzelius, die noch bis etwa 1880 in der Literatur verwendet wurde. Die Punkte stellen Sauerstoff dar, Kaliumoxid wurde noch für KO gehalten. Die Formel ist ansonsten für Langbeinit aber korrekt. In der Erstbeschreibung von 1891 steht die Formel bereits in der heute üblichen Schreibweise. Wer die Analyse vor dem Erscheinen der Erstbeschreibung durchgeführt hat, ist nicht bekannt. Der "Leonit" ist eine spätere (und falsche) Ergänzung in einer anderen Handschrift.
