In minerals of the cancrinite group different cages are formed by the arrangement of the tetrahedral framework and stacking sequences along c direction. The cages are called Cancrinite-, Liottite-, Sodalite- and Losod-cages. According to their size, different anions (and water) can be present in the cages.
The minerals are ordered here according to the stacking sequence of 6-membered rings of tetrahedra along c: 2: Cancrisilite, Vishnevite, Cancrinite, Hydroxycancrinite, Davyne, Microsommite, Kyanoxallite, Balliranoite, Depmeierite, Pitiglianoit, Quadridavyn; 4: Bystrite, Carbobystrite, Sulfhydrylbystrite; 6: Liottite; 8: Afghanit, Alloriite; 10: Franzinite; 12: Tounkite, Marinellit; 14: Farneseite, 16: Giuseppettite; 28: Sacrofanite; 30: Biachellaite; 33: Fantappičite; 36: Kircherite.
